Tomorrow is the anniversary of her death--May 12, 1984. She was the mother
of nine children. Someone once said we were each raised as if we werean
only child. This says much about her.
Below is some more information about my mother.

She was a lively woman. She came to meetings, to luncheons, trailed by
beautiful daughters and granddaughters; this was one side of Pat, her
closeness to her family. yet, she granted them independence of thought when
they were very young.
She gave the most brilliant book review I ever heard, fierce and involved.
That was another side of her.
She detested and fought all kinds of prejudice, and she included animals in
those she wanted to protect.
She started the League of Liberated Women who led the return to natural
childbirth...
The National Organization of Women remembers Pat now with this plant,which
will bloom pink, her favorite color. And we do it here because Pat Carter
started the first free library in Titusville, pulling a wagon full ofbooks
to people who wanted to read.
We'll remember Pat often, certainly every November. She was a classic.

OPEN HOUSE TO HONOR LEDINGTONS' 50th ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Ledington of Lily are planning an Open House in observance of their
fiftieth wedding anniversary. It is schedule to Saturday April 6 between the hours of 1 and
4 p.m., at their home which is on US 25 near the Lily Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The Ledingtons were married on April 7, 1924, by the late Rev. Billy Peters at his home
in Lily. Mrs. Ledington is the former Sarah Smith, daughter of the late Elevins and Lizzie
Smith. She is a lifelong resident of the Lily area.
Mr. Ledington, son of the late John and Nannie Weaver Ledington, grewup in the Upper
Cane Creek section of the eastern part of Laurel County.
The couple have spent all their married life in the Lily community.
They are parents of 12 children, nine of whom are still living.
The four living sons are:
Kenneth, Lily;
Keith, Louisville;
James, Danville, Indiana; and
Ernest, California.
The daughters are:
Mrs. Carroll (Marie) Crise, Indianapolis, Indiana;
Mrs. Claude (Verlie) Hodge; and
Mrs. Preston (Flora) Collier, both of Covington;
Mrs. Charles (Vada) Cox, Hamilton, Ohio; and
Mrs. Virgil (Lois) Helton, Corbin.
There are 35 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ledington, who spent his active years in carpentry
and construction work, retired several years ago due to poor
health. Mrs. Ledington, also is a semi-invalid.
However, despite their health handicap, they are about the most
faithful attendants at their church, the Lily Pentecostal Holliness.
All family members, relatives, neighbors, friends, acquaintances
or anyone who would like to help them celebrate this Golden
Milestone is cordially invited to be on hand for the Open House.

MANSFIELD -- Virginia L. Dobbins, 76, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at home after a long illness.
She went home to be with the Lord. Born June 6, 1928, in Gary, Indiana, she was the daughter of Henry and Maggie Parman Steward.
She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Ontario. Mrs. Dobbins retired from Sprint in 1991 after 38 years of service.
She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, traveling, and spending time with her family.
A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she was a good friend to many.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Charles "Russ" Dobbins of Ontario; daughter, Shirley J. Baldwin of Mansfield; son, Charles R. "Rusty" Dobbins Jr. of Lynchburg, Ohio; stepdaughter, Carolyn Love of Ontario; stepson, Tom Lyons of Wooster; seven brothers, Ernest Stewart, Fred Steward, Noah Stewart, Roger Steward, Charles Steward, Wendell Stewart, and Harold Steward; three sisters, Opal Sturgill, Hazel Hubbard and Janie Myers; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at Westside Baptist Church, 3720 W. Fourth St., Mansfield, with Pastor Ken Fielder officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Baptist Church.

Mr. Hodge was born April 18, 1920, in Laurel County, Ky.
He was a member of Faith Assembly of God, New Boston, Texas,
and a World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kennedy Hodge.
Survivors include two sons,
Larry Hodge & Jerry Hodge of Stamps, Ark.;
four daughters, Janice Louise Hodge of Covington, Ky.,
Rosemary Tucker of Erlanger, Ky.,
Claraetta Wallace of Ludlow, Ky.,
and Lois June Langbein of Bangor, Maine;
one brother, Cecil Jessie Hodge of London, Ky.;
five sisters, Gladys Humfleet and
Dellia M. Proffitt of London,

Amanda Cole Steward, 90, of Lily departed this life to enter her heavenly home on Thursday evening, December 13, 2007. A member of the Bethel United Baptist Church, she was a wonderful and enduring woman, quite aptly described in the Biblical book of Proverbs as doing him goodand not evil all the days of her life.? ?
Born Sept. 2, 1917, she was the daughter of Wallace and Delia Moore Gilbert, both of whom preceded her in death.? From an early age, she demonstrated creative energy and learned the artistic skill of quilting and crocheting, as well as gardening and working with flowers.? Those pastimes, indeed, brought her much pleasure over the years.? Meanwhile, true to her nature, she shared the crafts she created, the garden produce she perennially raised, and the flowers she green-thumbed with those she loved.?
Her greatest joy, however, came from her patient roles as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.?? Indeed, she spent her life showing her family the meaning of truly unselfish, unconditional love.? ?
Survivors include her loving five children: Bill Cole and wife Katherine of Lily, Letch (Bud) Cole and wife Linda of Lily, Bob Cole of Lily, Betty Sue Sparks and husband Bobby of Hamilton, Ohio, and Bonnie Hall of Lily; a stepson, T.G. Steward and wife Sandra of Indiana; four brothers: Jim Gilbert of Knox, Ind., Bechel Gilbert of Oolitic, Ind., Ken Gilbert of West Palm, Fla., and Voy Gilbert of Bedford, Ind.; one sister, Ruth Pace of Oolitic, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Nellie Lue Cole of Lily; and a special aunt, Nollie Lawson of Keavy; as well as many other family members and friends, all who mourn her passing.? ?
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands: Letch Cole and Ovid Steward; one grandson: Dennie C. Cole; two brothers: Burchel Gilbert and Stanley Gilbert; and one sister, Glennie Sutton.?
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Cole and Rev. Tim Philpot officiating.? Burial followed in the Taylor Cemetery with Rick Cole, Chadd Cole, Rob Cole, Marty Sparks, Bill Cole, and Josh Myers serving as pallbearers.? Named as honorary pallbearers were John Philpot, Donnie Philpot and Ken Lawson.?

Anna Frances Foley Moberly, 93, of Eastway Drive, the widow of Wilson Moberly, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 5, 2007, inher home.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Ada Broughton Foley. She was a retired teacher, having taught at Madison Central High School for 13 years and retiring in 1974 from the Fayette County School System.
Mrs. Moberly was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples ofChrist, Richmond, where she was active in the Womens Fellowship. She was a member and former president of the Madison County Retired Teachers Organization, a member of the Boonesborough Society, and a member of the Jemima Boone Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Richmond Woman?s Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wilson, she was preceded in death by: her two brothers, Ross Curtis Foley and Tommy Foley; and a sister, Dorothy Foley Sowell.
She is survived by: her three children, Dottie Moberly Renfro and herhusband, Harold of Richmond, Wilson Kay Moberly and his wife, Kathrynof Buffalo, N.Y., and Phillip Mark Moberly, and his wife, Barbara of Richmond; one sister, Charlotte Leahy of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandsons, Rufus, Mac and Joshua Moberly, Mark and Ryan Renfro; one granddaughter, Leigh Ashley Moberly; a stepgrandson, Joshua Regnick; four great-grandsons, six nieces, three nephews and several cousins.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Dr. Thom Gibson officiating. Burial will followin the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Rufus Moberly, James (Mac) Moberly, Josh Moberly,Mark Renfro, Ryan Renfro and Allen Foley. Honorary bearers will be Charles Metcalf, Harry Bush, Ronnie Ginter, Billy Glenn Turpin, Shannon Johnson, Charles (Toby) Honaker, James R. Tipton, Tib Congleton, TommyCongleton, Truman Turner, Tommy Masters and Glenn Foley.
