  Benvenuto!
Welcome to Ted Saselli's Italian Genealogy! Glad you could stop by.
My purpose in creating this web page is to share my knowledge of Italian genealogy with those of you who may be just starting out in your search for "famiglia". When I first became interested in my family's history nearly 30 years ago, I had nothing more than a few family surnames and little knowledge of the names or locations of my ancestral villages. Back in those days home computers were practically non-existent and searching for records was painstakingly done using the mail system. Today, all of that has changed and we are now able to converse via e-mail with relatives, friends and even search vital records online through the Internet.

My interest in genealogy began one day when I started wondering about my Italian roots. I started thinking about where my paternal grandfather died and when. His search began with a request for a death certificate from the county recorder in Sonora, CA. Today, I have a database of over 700 persons directly related to both my wife Sherry and myself. One thing you have to realize about genealogy in general; YOU ARE NEVER FINISHED! There is always another elusive person or location to pursue. For the most part, Italian genealogy is pretty much straight forward. As in real estate, the three most important aspects of Italian genealogy are LOCATION, LOCATION, and LOCATION! If you do not know the name of the village of your ancestors, you are pretty much doomed to failure. The fact that most Italians were not very mobile makes the search fairly easy as long as you can identify the village from where they came.
