Site NewsI'm in the process of making the conversion to cascading style sheets and XHTML. That means those of you with older browsers (such as Netscape Navigator 4) will be unable to see some of the background graphics, my chosen font may display inconsistently, and lists may look different than what I designed. Those of you with the newest versions of Netscape and Mozilla will see extra space in some of my layouts. None of the content will be missing from the pages in any browser. Please let me know if you run into major display problems on your computer. | ||||||

My PoliciesRegarding advertising:Well, I don't believe in free lunches. There are providers out there that will host this site gratis with no advertising, but they are free to change that policy, and invariably do, once they've attracted a few customers. In theory, I'm willing to give space for advertising in return for a place to publish, but I don't much like having no choice in what gets hawked here. So if any of you sees anything that offends or annoys you, tell me about it, and I'll lobby to have the ad removed. Regarding privacy:I'm not paranoid about it. Oh, I suppose there are a few stalkers out there who might take advantage of a family homepage that publishes pictures of children along with the date and place of the upcoming family reunion, but I don't lose sleep over them. Having said that, however, I must add that this website is not intended for anyone but us. I haven't promoted it in any way, registered it with search engines, or put links to it in any other websites. However, the Rootsweb hosting service automatically adds every file I upload to their directory, which means anyone who visits their website has access to this homepage. It will also, sooner or later, be discovered by search engines. Other people can put links to it in their webpages. So, any concerns you may have about privacy will be taken very seriously by me. In keeping with current practice among genealogists, I won't unilaterally publish information about living people, other than their names, parentage, and spouses. But, should any of you wish to share something here about yourself or your family, I'd be happy to include it. If there is general willingness, I may occasionally solicit material from you (photos, memoirs, etc.) If not, then I'll limit the site's contents to our ancestors. Regarding information:This site is not intended to present an authoritative body of research. I am not a professional genealogist. I don't own the information presented here, and have no right to tell anybody what to do with it. I only ask you, in consideration of those to whom history is important, not to publicly share the information you find here without also indicating where it came from. This is not because I want credit for anything - it doesn't matter to me whether you cite my pages or the sources I used. My main concern is that anyone researching our ancestry should know where the information was obtained, so that they can verify it. You do not need my permission to make a link to this site.
