The Ballarat Rundell's
Two brothers Thomas and David Rundell came out from Cornwall in England with their wives to start a new life in Australia. They set sail for Australia but the ship they were sailing in caught fire, and so the ship was scuttled to stop it from burning, this happened either off the south American coast or near the Cook Islands as I have been given both accounts, however they were rescued and taken to Wellington New Zealand, where David's wife had her first child, David comming home drunk, gave her the name Polly, after the ship Polly Woodside, that took them off the island and brought then to New Zealand. They stayed in New Zealand awhile awaiting passage to Australia and came on to Melbourne where David got a job laying the tram tracks in Melbourne, both brothers latter moved to Ballarat where they had a Gold Mine together.
