ANDREW BALLENTINE was the son of JOHN JAMES and MARY ELIZABETH (HUXFORD) BALLENTINE. He saw service in the Confederate Forces from South Carolina, serving in Company D, 3rd (Palmetto) Battalion, South Carolina Light Artillery. He enlisted as a minor on December 23, 1864 in Charleston, South Carolina and was paroled in Greensboro, North Carolina on May 1, 1865. It is indicated in pencil on the margin of his record that he was a "picket" and received no pay. On May 30, 1919, at the age of 71, he applied for and received a pension for his service. The basis for his claim was his "left leg crushed, now crippled and in poor health. His service was witnessed by J. O. MIMS and S. E. LAW, both members of the South Carolina Light Artillery.

-MARY RUTH BALLENTINE
She was born November 15, 1875 in South Carolina. She married JOHN W. MYERS on December 15, 1899. He was born in 1874. She died May 12, 1908 and he died December 28, 1931 in the Wassamassaw Section of Berkeley County, South Carolina. Both are buried in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church Cemetery. They had issue: 1) Bessie, married James B. Ray; 2) Annie E., married Renne Otto Ballentine; 3) Archie A., married Rosalee Clark; and 4) Ubie B., married first, Nettie Scott, married second, Gertrude Wooten.

-ENOS ELLIOT BALLENTINE
He was born January 22, 1878 in the Wassamassaw Section of Berkeley County, South Carolina. He graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, in Charleston, June 30, 1902. He returned to Berkeley County after graduation to teach school. He taught in Holly Hill, near Carnes Crossroads, and in New Hope, South Carolina. As a Citadel graduate, Enos was named Commander of a Cavalry Unit of the South Carolina Militia. He was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1905 and served until 1907. On April 12, 1906, he married his childhood sweetheart, INNIS LORENA WILLSON. She was born January 19, 1883, daughter of CHARLES HENRY WILLSON and ELIZABETH ANN WEST. They built a home on Coopers Store Road where they farmed and operated several businesses including a turpentine operation, a rice and grits mill, and a mercantile store. They moved to Summerville, South Carolina in 1920 to be near an accredited high school for their children. Enos was also an accountant for the Prettyman Lumber Company and later helped with the Pfaehler Grocery Store on Cedar Street, retiring at age 92. Enos died June 17, 1972 and Innis died June 2, 1965. Both are buried in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church Cemetery. They had issue: 1) John Willson, married Frances Mary Gasson; 2) Iona Elizabeth, married Raymond Herbert Taylor; 3) Legare Willson, married Elise Masterman; and 4) Helen May, married William Fremder Pfaehler.

-CLARENCE EMORY BALLENTINE
He was born November 3, 1879. Until his retirement he worked on the Southern Railroad. On April 4, 1907 he married ANNA LEE MURRAY, a sister of ORPHA SUSAN MURRAY, second wife of ELLISON JUDSON BALLENTINE, and mother of LOUVETA GERTRUDE BALLENTINE. After the death of her sister in childbirth on February 16, 1914, Anna Lee and Clarence adopted Louveta and raised her with their other children. They lived their lives in the Wassamassaw Section of Berkeley County, South Carolina. Clarence died there on December 27, 1952 and Anna Lee died there July 23, 1961. Both are buried in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church Cemetery. They had issue: 1) Eugene Leroy, married Helen Virginia Wilson; 2) Andrew, married Dora Lee Burbage; 3) Mary Lee, married Martin James Thomas; 4) Pauline Elizabeth, married Edward Fisher Kornahrens; and 5) Orpha, married Walter Harmon Dennis.

-IDA G. BALLENTINE
She was born July 25, 1881 and died February 9, 1882 in the Wassamassaw Section of Berkeley County, South Carolina. She is buried in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church Cemetery.

-ZADA E. BALLENTINE
She was born August 26, 1883. On November 16, 1909 she married EDWARD LEE WINTER. He was born August 10, 1874 in Florida, son of DAVID McCANTS WINTER and MARY FULTZ HARVEY. She died November 15, 1910 in the Wassamassaw Section of Berkeley County and is buried in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church Cemetery. They had no issue. After her death, he married MAIME T. COLEMAN. He died December 21, 1927 in Spruce Bluff, Brevard, Florida.

-HATTIE LEE BALLENTINE
She was born May 30, 1885. She married JAMES WILLIAM MIMS on February 23, 1908. He was born October 11, 1882, son of JAMES OLIVER MIMS and LUCINDA LAW. She died June 11, 1974 and he died November 6, 1973 and both are buried in the St. John's Baptist Cemetery, Moncks Corner, Berkeley, South Carolina. They had issue: 1) James Lloyd, married Virginia Maynor; 2) Kate Estell, married James Joseph Barry; 3) Zada Lee, married John Phillip Morgan; and 4) Harry William, married Margaret Cain.

-BESSIE E. BALLENTINE
She was born and died September 3, 1887 and is buried in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church Cemetery.

-DAISIE E. BALLENTINE
She was born May 18, 1890. On September 16, 1909 she married JAMES HARDIN LAW. He was born November 19, 1887. She died April 12, 1956 and he died March 20, 1958. Both are buried in the St. John's Baptist Cemetey, Moncks Corner, South Carolina. They had issue: 1) Catherine Effie, married Julius MacDonald Kale; 2) James Hardin, Jr., married Madelyn Earlene Dalton; 3) Norris Samuel, married Rosa Hilda Mitchum; 4) Janie Mae, married James Braxton Bass; 5) Robert Daniel, married Zadie Marie Dial; 6) Edward Arthur, married Barbara Ann Dill; 7) Clarence Oliver, married Doris Ann Ballentine; and 8) Charles Bryan, married Frances Elaine McCoy.

-CONNIE E. BALLENTINE
She was born October 14, 1893 and died December 6, 1894 and is buried in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church Cemetery.
