DAVID STOKES
He was born before September 6, 1817 in the Sumter District of South Carolina, based on his age (33) given in the 1850 South Carolina census for St. John's Berkeley Parish. His occupation is given as "manager". There is also a child named HENRY DORSEY, age 11, born in Sumter District, enumerated in his household. He married ELLENDER "ELLEN" BALLENTINE on November 7, 1841 in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia. She was born, based on her age (32) given in the 1850 South Carolina census, in the Sumter District of South Carolina before September 6, 1818. (I also have a birth date for her from another researcher as November 1819). She was a daughter of JOHN J. and RULANEY BALLENTINE. He died in Burke County, Georgia on October 10, 1876. She died April 19, 1906. They had issue below.

FLAVIUS JOSEPH STOKES
He was born about 1853. He married, first, BELLE ROSS with no issue. He married, second, ELLEN DORA PARKER, daughter of JOHN MIDDLETON PARKER and SARAH DIANA FULTZ on April 19, 1881. She was born April 8, 1861 and died in Gourdin, Berkeley County, South Carolina, on December 18, 1912. He died there in January 1890 or 1891. They had issue below.
