The will of Joseph Bamkin of Whitwick proved at Leicester on the twenty ninth day of October 1866 by the oath of Abraham Bamkin son of the deceased as the sole executor

In the name of God from the eighth day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty one I Joseph Bamkin of Whitwick in the county of Leicester Framework knitter and shopkeeper being of perfect mind ......... and understanding thanks be given unto God. Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed unto all ......... to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of
almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executor nothing doubting but at the ........... resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to .... us in this life and give demise and distress of the same in the following ...... and from first I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Bamkin my dearly beloved wife all my real and personal estate of whatever nature or kind the same may be, together with all my household goods, debts, and ....... effects to her sole use and benefit during the term of her natural life or as long as she continues to be my widow. Then and after her demise ( or ....marriage if such should be the case ) to be sold and equally distributed amongst all my surviving children share and share alike after paying all my just debts, funeral ........ expenses of proving this my last will and testament. Also I constitute, make and ordain my son Abraham Bamkin my sole executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly ....... revoke and ....... all and every former testaments, wills, legacies, bequests and executors by me in anyways before named, willed and bequeathed. Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. As Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal the day and
year above written.

Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and disclosed by the said Joseph Bamkin as his last will and testament in the presence of us who as hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.

Leicester - In the goods of Joseph Bamkin deceased - I William Tugby of Whitwick in the county of Leicester clock and watch maker make oath that I am one of the subscribing witnesses to the last will and testament of Joseph Bamkin late of Whitwick in the county of Leicester, framework knitter and shopkeeper deceased. The said will being now hereunto ......... bearing date the eighth day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty one and that the said testator executed the said will on the day of the ........ thereof by signing his name at the foot or end thereof as the same now appears ........ in the presence of me and of William Holmes and .......... the other subscribed witnesses hereto all of us being .......... at the same time and we ............ attested and subscribed the said will in the
presence of the said testator
