Denuel and Adami of Comlos

Submitted by: Peggy Adami Doyle

This photo is dated November 2, 1914 and was taken in Comlos. The identity of the couple is unknown to me but I believe them to be one of my Grandmother's sisters and her husband. This couple appear in another photo I have sent along with their baby and my Grandmother.

My Banat relatives. The couple in this photo are unknown to me. The date of this photo is circa 1910 and was taken in Comlos. I believe this couple to be related to my Grandmother as it was in her possession. There is a slight possibility it is her parents, Peter Denuel and Elisabeth Kines from Comlos. Peter Denuel was the town undertaker and a cabinetmaker.

The photo that was used for the immigration papers of my Grandfather, Grandmother and Father. They immigrated to Chicago from the Banat on the S.S. Resolute arriving August 1922 (port of departure Hamburg). I believe this photo dates from 1922. From left to right is: Christof Adami (b. 12/25/1890 d. 8/25/1959), Anton Adami (b. 12/2/1919 d.2/15/98), Maria (Denuel) Adami (b. 1/5/1896 d. 12/1978). Upon arriving in New York, my Grandmother Maria was given a banana, (she had never seen one before) ate it peel and all. She disliked it so badly, she never ate another one. My Grandfather Christof fought in Russia during WWI, after the war he walked home to Comlos, wearing out his shoes in the process. He had been engaged to my Grandmothers older sister before the war, but upon returning home, noticed my Grandmother had grown up since he had left and married her instead! Christof was a barber for many years in Chicago.
