The Story behind this photo: Tom sent an email wondering if Dave Dreyer's Database could be sorted by ship. His intent was to locate a girl his grandmother met on the vessel Rhein when she came over to the U.S. Aug 29 - Sep 12, 1907. They knew the girl's name was Francis and that she also went to Detroit. As you can see by the photo, she had her picture taken at Merz 753 Michigan Avenue, Detroit. She may well be someone on the Banat Lists' relative and they would love to have her picture. It would be great if we could locate her full name and information. A check fo the database revealed one 16 year old girl that seems to match the clues given. The entry found was for: KOSSKY(?) Franziska - Last name Probably Kosky as father is listed in the comments. Arrived: 12 Sep 1907 on the Ship: Rhein. She departed/arrived from/to: Bre/Bal with a destination of Detroit, Michigan. She was born in the Village of Sigmundsdorf. Her father, Jakob Kosky, remained in Sigmundsdorf Tom went back to Dave's database on Sigmundsdorf Village ship list and found Francis' dad Jakob and family decided to come too, in 1910. They went to see their Son-in-law, Johann KOLLETH of Klek. It looks like Francis married Johann in Detroit between Sept. 1907 and Sept. 1910. More investigative work by Dave Dreyer revealed that her father returned to the Banat and died in Sigmundfeld. There is also more history of her father and mother... Father: KOSKI Jakob, son of Mathias
Koski and Elisabeth Welter. |
