As an old "tin-can" sailor I appreciate these web-sites alot. I was assigned to the USS Richard B. Anderson(DD786) from Mar. 59 to Oct. 61, so I have alot of fond memories of the RBA and her sister ships in the division. We steamed alot together through t e years and still have our memories. You have a great web-site, keep it coming. I am sorry to see that the "Aggie" was sunk, and now the RBA is history, as the Nationlist Chinese navy has decommissioned her. Sincerely, Dennis Guinane

Was a fixture on the Aggie from 1968 to early 1973. Did three WestPacs, Typhoon Joan, all that good stuff! Bummed about missle attack! Was completely amazed and pleased to find this site. The Aggie was a great ship, always seemed to have an equally great rew. To ET Murray: yes, I remember almost getting our a....s washed off the signal bridge during Joan-young and dumb! This has been a fun night of surfing. Keep up the good work.

Fellow shipmate Pat Green called my wife this afternoon and gave her the info about the website. Got home and went directly to the computer. Great site--Thanks. Served aboard Aggie 1970 to 1972, started on the signal bridge, then became ship's yeoman. Road the typhoon, Joan, typed CDR Taylor's article. Still have copy of the Spring 1971 issue of Fathom. Have shared the story many times, especially to my sea kayaking buddies when they talk about the seas being rough--they ain't seen rough! Would love to hear from fellow shipmates. Let's get together!

Great memories aboard the Aggie. Has anybody seen the"General" AR Lee, or Chief Chambers or Taylor? What a great team of snipes, the best in the business. So many stories, so little time. By the way, "Heads Up" George Gosnell aka GHG. Watch those monkey fists the next time Aggie pulls along side the carrier to take on fuel. God Speed to everyone who served on ol Aggie.

I came aboard the Aggie as SA in 2nd Div. under BM3 Walker.I drove the Captains Gig to and from Coranado. I entered an art contest to draw a ships plaque and won. I was the one over the side painting the ships insignia and numbers 826 on the bow.I left th Agerholm in 68, went to Swift Boat school and then to Veitnam on River Boats. I just found out about the Aggies demise and it really brought a tear to my eye.I am glad to have so much in common with so many crew members.Luck and God bless you all.

My father was aboard the Agerholm from roughly 1950 to 1952. I did not see him on the Ship Mates List. His name was Richard W. Sheehy and he was a Quartermaster. Enjoyed the "Aggie" website. Served Aboard USS Agerholm (DD826) Went aboard as an ETNSA on 9/68 and departed as an ETN2 on 9/71,(three westpac cruises - including Brisbane, Australia and Auckland, NZ)though the website roster shows only '68 and '69 for me and most of my shipmates from that time. Was standing on the signal bridge, with ST2 L.D. Gross, when we looked up at the first wave of Typhoon Joan as it washed over us. Was also there when we bounced the sonar dome off the Great Barrier Reef, heading for Brisbane.

I was just thinking about my Navy days this morning, and happened upon this page for my last ship. It's great to see that she has so many who remember her. I was among the last to serve the grand old lady. But even at over 30 years of age, we always ma e our commitments to support operations, even taking the place of newer ships in our squadron that were always breaking down. Ahoy, mateys!

Great job Earl, on the history of the ship. I get a little misty eyed when I think of her sitting on the ocean floor! Keep up the good work! Jim Gillaspie, Sailors Lost And Found
