~ Township History ~

Tuscarawas County was divided into Goshen, Oxford, Lawrence and Salem townships on April 16, 1808.

One Leg Township was formed in 1809 from Jefferson County, part of it becoming Harrisson and Carroll Counties. It no longer exists as a township in Tuscarawas County.

On January 31, 1810, a southwestern corner of land in the county was annexed to Coshocton County, and became Oxford and Adams township, Coshocton County.

Other tracts of land were given to:
Harrison County on January 2, 1813
Holmes County on January 20, 1824
Carroll County on December 25, 1832.
