Last Will and Testament of Gabriel Bowling Sr.
Will Book D Page 251 Floyd County, Virginia
March 20th, 1866
I Gabriel Bowling of the County of Floyd and state of Virginia considering the uncertainty of life and being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
First after paying all my just debts and funeral expenses I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Catherine Bowling my plantation on which I now reside to have the entire control of during her widowhood together with my wagon and houses, and two choice horses, two choice milk cows, as many hogs and sheep as she wishes to keep for her purposes.  My farming utensils, household and kitchen furniture also one years provisions and one hundred dollars in money to use if she needs it.
Secondly I give to my daughters Sarah Richardson, Mary Thompson and the heirs of her body, John Bowling, Henry Bowling, Gabriel Bowling, Nancy Conner and the heirs of her body remainder of my stock to be equally divided amongst them the respective sums of which is three hundred dollars to be deducted from John Bowling and Nancy Conners part.  I give to my grandsons Gabriel P. Bowling and Gabriel Conner twenty five dollars each.  I also will that Henry Bowling have my land at twelve hundred dollars and that he have two and three years to pay it in, if he does not want at that price any of the rest of the heirs may have it at the same price, but if none take it that will be sold to the highest bidder, the purchase money to be equally divided amongst my heirs: the said Sarah Richardson, Mary Thompson and heirs of her body, Nancy Conner and heirs of her body after deducting the said three hundred dollars bond which I hold against George W.Conner and after deducting the said three hundred dollars from John Bowlings part, and to Gabriel Bowling, Henry Bowling.  I hereby appoint my son Gabriel Bowling and Martel Lesuer my executors, this last will and testament, hereby revolking all other Wills and made by me heretofore.  In witness whereof I have hereunto affixed my seal this 20th day of March in the year of our Lord 1866.

The last will and testament of Gabriel Bowling was proved by the oaths of Green L. Tuggle and Daniel Conner suscribing witnesses thereof and admitted to record.
