Married in Robertson County, Tennessee 10 Sep 1813

ARKANSAS METHODIST NEWSPAPER, DEC 6, 1884, PG 5: Died, at New Edinburg, August 17, 1884, Mrs. Celia Stone, formerly Miss Celia Ivins. Sister Stone was born in Georgia, 1794; moved to middle Tennessee, Robertson County, in the 15th year of her age; was converted at the age of 18, and joined the Methodist Church, and remained a member of the same till death; was married to N.C. Stone in the 19th year of her age; moved to Carroll County, Tenn., where her husband died in 1835; moved with her children to Arkansas in 1854, and settled in Bradley (not Dorsey) County. She was fully conscious of her approaching death, which she spoke of as being ready. Sister Stone was a worthy and respected member of society, and a kind and affectionate mother. She left children, grandchildren and friends to mourn her loss. She had an extended circle of acquaintences and friends, among whom she lived, respected and loved. While we drop a tear of sympathy on the grave of our dear departed friend and mother, let us not forget that our loss is her gain--that she has past over the "dark river, into the bright and happy land beyond." May we meet her on that beautiful shore, in the "sweet by and bye," where the faithful never die, but are forever echoing the music and harmonies of heaven, whose skies, like a broad rainbow, stand on gold. By J.W. Baird.

Levi Stone   Born 1824 in Robertson County, Tennessee.  Died 1904 in Logan County, Arkansas.  Buried in Evans Cemetery Logan CountyEvans Cemetery, Blue Mountain, Logan County, ArkansasOakland Cemetery, Leflore County, Oklahoma   Levi married Eliza Ann Price in Gibson County, Tennessee on 17 Aug 1845.
Sometime between 1833 and 1842 Levi Stone's father (Nicholas Stone) died leaving Levi, Eliza, Ferely, Lucy, Nancy Elizabeth, May and Nicholas Jr as orphans. Guin Stone appeared in the Carroll County Court and was appointed guardian for the children. Levi married Eliza Price in Gibson County, TN in 1845 where they settled. When the War between the States erupted, Levi joined the Confederacy, enlisting with Co. H of the 23rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment, at Arkadelphia, Arkansas on 6 Mar 1862. Interestingly, another Levi Stone enlisted into the same unit at the same time. They were listed as Levi Stone Sr and Jr. However, the Levi Stone Jr is not our Levi Stone's son and he is much too young to be our Levi. Instead, this Levi Stone Jr is actually the son of Ivens Stone, brother to our Levi. Both Ivens and our Levi were living in Clark County, Arkansas at the time. See this Civil War link for additional details 23rd Regiment, Co H, Arkansas Infantry

According to Goodspeeds History of Arkanas, "Levi Stone, also numbered among the prosperous farmers of Hot Springs County, was born in Robertson County, Tennessee in 1824. In the fall of 1855 he moved to Ouachita County, Ark where he resided two years, then becoming settled in Clark County, and subsequently, in 1867, he removed to Montgomery County, remaining there for three years. Gathering together his personal effects he finally took up his home in Logan County, and after a residence of six years came to his present home in Hot Springs County, where he has since resided. He owns 300 acres of fine land, with eighty acres under cultivation. He was married in 1845 to Eliza Price, a native of Tennessee, with whom he lived for twenty years, becoming the father of six children, four girls and two boys, all of whom are married and living in Logan County: Mary Ann (aged 40), Sarah Ann (38), Henry C (36), Evans (34), Julia (32), and Sythia (26). He was married the second time to the widow of James A Bacham (nee Thornton) in the year 1881. She was a native of Madison County, Tennessee, born November 8, 1843. To this unioin was given one child, a girl, on September 30, 1884. Mr Stone served in the Confederate Army from 1861 to 1865, participating in the battles at Oak Hill, Elk Horn, Shiloh, Corinth, Iuka and Port Hudson. At the latter place he surrendered, and after being paroled served under Fagan until the close of the war, taking part in the Missouri Raid. He has been a member of the Methodist Chruch for 12 years, having joined in Montgomery County. His wife is a member of the Missionary Baptist Church, becoming affiliated with it some fifteen years ago. They are worthy, public spirited citizens, having the esteem of all they meet."

In Families of Logan County, much of the same information was submitted by a Lavada Williams Smith and printed. Additional details follow: his military service began with the enlistment at Arkadelphia, Arkansas in Company H, Colonel Crawford's Cavalry Regiment. He applied for a pension May 22, 1901 and in 1911 attended a reunion for Civil War Veterans at Camp Shaver. On May 29, 1922 he applied for a raise on his pension. Eliza Price's mother's name was Elizabeth Ann, last name unknown. "He loved home brew, which caused some family disorder. His wife ran him away when he had too much. Levie Jr is buried in Evans Cemetery at Magazine. The grave is marked with a stone wall with a 1.5 foot diamond shape in the top of the stone. Children of Levi, JR. and Eliza Stone are: Mary Jane Stone who married Jess Bunch; Sarah Ann Stone who married Charles W Williams; Henry C Stone; Evan Stone who married Jane Griffith; Julia Stone who married Henry Ewing; and Sythia Stone who married Billy Hall." The information above is correct with the exception of his name being Levi Jr. Levi and his brother Nicholas C. Stone both served in the CSA. Nicholas in the 2nd Arkansas Cavalry. Then around 1866 Levi and Eliza apparently divorced. On 5 Sept, 1880 Levi married a widow by the name of Mary Thorton Bacham in Montgomery County, Arkansas and in 1882 they purchased 160 acres of land in Logan county. In 1880 Eliza is found living with their son, Ivans and next to Henry in Logan County. In 1900 she is living with Henry in Logan County, Revilee Twp. Her date of death and final resting place is unknown.

By 1860 Ivans along with his brother Levi were living in the Beech Creek Twp of Clark County Ark (pg 24). His son Levy is now 16 and still at home.
