To Mr S McRostie

I can find no recorded evidence in my first paragraph, but have included it as it was told to me by my ...... uncle Jack, who remembers what his mother (.?....) told ..... of her grandfather.

..... Father McRostie came to Australia in 1843 and landed ..... (.. ..... possibly as this was the only deep water port in S. A. at the time) with timber mill equipment, ...... to Adelaide by bullock dray and set up first timber mill at Gumeracha SA.

Peter McRostie ....... ......... ................'Lady McNaghten' and he opened a wholesale grocery shop in Adelaide and was the 1st tea and coffee importer in S.A.

April 2nd 1855, the three brothers, Robert, Alexander and James, farmers of Mt Lofty in the province of SA bought 245 acres (6256 .... hundred of Talunga) near Gumeracha for 45 pounds. The same land including household premises and crop growing were sold by them in 1859 for 255 pounds.

Alexander settled in N. Adelaide and became a tailor, buying 4 different parts of the town acre in his lifetime. Married to Janet Watson, they produced 9 children:- Margaret (?.th Adelaide 1967), Jack, William, George, J...., ......, Edith, Nellie, and Louise.

James and Robert McRostie were listed as farmers Mt Gambier in 1864 until 1873 when James became a contractor Mt Gambier, and Robert a farmer at Mayura. Robert and James stayed at these places until 1882 when the three brothers farmed land again together at Mayura.

In 1883-4 Alexander was listed as a farmer at Mayura, and Robert a farmer at Millicent. Alexander sold his land, (section 71, hundred of Riddoch, 168 acres) in 1885 and spent the last years of his life with a family named Plenty in Adelaide. Alexander possibly returned to Scotland for a holiday as record was made of his returning to Adelaide 1876 on the ship 'Bungaloo'.

Alexander McRostie's daughter Margaret had her schooling at a Miss Ady.... school, Millbrook and lived .... her ... for that time. Through her father's tailoring business, Margaret met and married a tailor, Alexander ...... Munro. Alexander Munro (22 yrs was sponsored by Dr ..... and arrived from ....... to Adelaide in '87. He a bed on a tea clipper for a few years. Discharge papers date .......... 1880 Adelaide.

Alexander and Margaret Munro with children lived in Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand before returning to Adelaide. Children were Mabel, Charles, Dorothea, Harold (living), Daphne, Phyllis, Hazel (Gilberton Adelaide 1890?) and Jack (living).

Hazel Nellie Munro married Michael Christian Krogdahl in 1909, and their children are Alexander (died), Christian (Adelaide 1914), Michael.

Christian Charles Krogdahl married Myra Young, Adelaide, 1938 and their children are Roger, Carolyn, Christian.

Carolyn Ann Krogdahl (298 6083) married John Sanders, Adelaide, 1965 and our children are Robert James (1971) Geoffrey John (1973).
