Village Dream

VILLAGE DREAM

Oh for a village
where God is respected
and kindness is reflected
in the behavior of all.

Where children chatter cheerfully
upon the town square
while a soloist chants soliloquies
in the chilly night air.

Where neighbors mingle freely
on a bright winter's eve
exchanging merriment and warmth
with cups of hot tea.

Where "adult" means a grownup
instead of something impure
and strong values are universal
not relative or obscure.

Oh for a place
where serenity dwells
and shootings don't compete
with the sound of church bells.

Where "awesome" is reserved
for God who reigns supreme,
such a village on earth...
Oh what a dream!
