As a researcher, for many years, I have used transcriptions and indexes created by those researchers who have gone before me.
This document is an attempt to make the probate records for the Barwise family of Cumberland more available and to put a little something back into this vast pool of knowledge.
Possibly 15% of the records were collected and transcribed by other researchers too numerous to mention. All the transcriptions are as accurate as I can make them although in some cases the spelling has been up-dated and to some extent rationalised.
All the family group sheets have been prepared by me and are as accurate as I can make them at this time.
No-one can research the Barwise family without becoming aware of the tremendous work done by the Rev. Frank B. Swift so I dedicate this to him.
