He was (an unknown value) 5 children. He "ROBERT,

Cambridge, came in the Elizabeth 1634, from Ipswich, aged 30, with w. Mary 28,

freem. 6 May 1636, went to Hartford, perhaps with Hooker in 1636, or very soon

after, had sev. lots among first proprs. His first w. d. prob. bef. rem. a.nd

the mo. of his ch. was Edatha, sis. of

deac. Edward Stebbins. She is nam. in his will, 20 May 1648, wh. is print. in

Trumbull's Col. Rec. of Conn. I. 487; but tho. childr. are provid. for, we

find not names nor number. They were Thomas; Sarah, wh. m. Sept. 1658,

Nathaniel Gunn of Hartford, and next, 24 Nov. 1664, Samuel Kellogg of

Hatfield, and was k. with her s. Joseph, 19 Sept. 1677, by the Ind.; Mary, wh.

m. 28 Oct. 1659, Samuel Ely of Springfield, and next, 12 Apr. 1694, Thomas

Stebbins, and next, 11 Dec. 1696, deac. John Coleman of Hatfield, where she d.

1725; and John, bef. ment. His wid. m. John Maynard of Hartford, wh. d.

without ch. leav. to the ch. of D. "provided they carry themselves well

towards" their mo. some decent est. and next m. in 1657 or 8, Elizur Holyoke

of Springfield wh. she surv. by twelve yrs. and d. 24 Oct. 1688. Of descend.

of Northampton. "61 He "Robert Day, immigrant ancestor of this branch of the family, was born in England and came to New England on the ship "Hopewell" in April, 1634. He settled first at Cambridge and was admitted a freeman, May 6, 1635. He went to Hartford, Connecticut, no doubt with Rev. Mr. Hooker's company, and was a resident there in 1639. His name is on the monument erected to the memory of the founders of that city. His will was dated May 20, 1648, and inventory of the estate was filed October 14, 1648. He married Editha Stebbins, sister of Deacon Edward Stebbins, of Hartford. She married (second) Deacon John Maynard, and (third) in 1658, Elizur Holyoke, of Springfield, where she died October 24, 1688. Children: Thomas, of Springfield; John, mentioned below; Sarah, killed with her son Joseph by the Indians, September 19, 1677; Mary."

215. John2 Day (Robert1); born 1645 at Hartford, Hartford CT; died 29 Mar 1730 at Hartford, Hartford, CT.

He was (an unknown value) 4 children. He "JOHN, Hartford, s. of Robert, of the same, by w. Sarah Maynard, had

Joseph, b. a. 1675; John, 1677; Thomas; Mary; Maynard; Sarah, bapt. 19 Sept.

1686; William, 24 Apr. 1692; and Joseph, again, 14 June 1699."61 He "John, son of Robert Day, married Sarah Maynard, of Hartford. His will was dated November 16, 1725, when he was "advanced in years," and proved May 6, 1730. He owned a share in a grist or saw mill, which be bequeathed to his son William. Children: Joseph, died 1696; John, mentioned below; Thomas; Mary; Maynard; Sarah, baptized September 19, 1686; William, baptized April 24, 1692; Joseph, baptized June 14, 1699. "69

216. John3 Day (John2, Robert1); born 24 Sep 1676 at Colchester, New London, CT; married Grace Spencer, daughter of Samuel Gerrard Spencer and Hannah Willey, 21 Jan 1696 at Colchester, New London, CT;78 died 4 Nov 1752 at Colchester, New London, CT, at age 76.

He was (an unknown value) 12 children. He "John (2), son of John (1) Day, was born in 1677, died November 4, 1752, aged seventy-five. He removed to Colchester, Connecticut, about 1701-02. He married (first) January 21, 1696, Grace Spencer, of Hartford, who died May 12, 1714, in Colchester. He married (second) Mary (???), who died November 2, 1749, aged seventy-four. Children, all by first wife, the first three born in Hartford: Lydia, born April 11, 1698; Mary, August 14, 1699; John, June 6, 1701. Born in Colchester: Joseph, September 27, 1702; Benjamin, February 7, 1704; Editha, September 10, 1705; Daniel, March 9, 1709, died 1712; David, July 18, 1710; Abraham, mentioned below; Isaac, May 17, 1713; Daniel."69
