St. Johns Reminder January 26, 1998 Dorothy Cressman Dorothy M. Cressman, 84, of St. Johns, died Jan. 18, 1998. She was born June 4, 1913, in St. Johns, the daughter of Frank H. and Edna G. (Crom) Beck. She graduated from St. Johns High School in 1932, attended Clinton County Normal, and later graduated from Central Michigan University. She married Almond B. Cressman Dec. 25, 1933, in Greenbush Township. Mrs. Cressman taught school in Clinton County at Sherwood School, 1932-34; Olive Center School, 1934-35; Plowman School, 1953-56; Chapman School, 1956-59; and Gunnisonville School from 1959 until her retirement in 1974. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church, The Congregators, the Vesper Division of the Congregational Church, Radiant Chapter #79 OES, DAR, the Olive Grange, Clinton County Pomona Grange, National Grange, Retired Teachers Association, Clinton County Library Board, and Brown Bees Extension Club. Surviving are her husband, Almond; [three children], 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, []; several nieces and nephews, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by twin brothers Gaylord and Maynard Beck. The funeral service was held Jan. 21 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with the Rev. Matt Olson officiating. Burial was at Mt. Rest Cemetery. An Order of Eastern Star ceremony was held Jan. 19. Memorials may be made to Clinton County Home Health, the Diabetes Association, or the OES.
