The Daily Sentinel, Monday 4/23/1900 Died From Injuries. Mrs. William Nelson died Saturday at two o'clock at her home four and one-half miles southeast of town. She is survived by a husband, four sons and three daughters. The deceased was sixty [sic - 68] years of age and had been a sufferer since Jan. 21, 1898, at which time she attempted to assist her husband, who is an invalid, from his bed and in some manner fell on the floor, rupturing the ligaments at the head of the femur. This ultimately caused her death. The funeral was held today at the M.E. Church at Portage. Burial took place at the East Portage cemetery.
