Elsie Mildred Robb, fourth daughter of Samuel and Ethel Robb, formerly of Kinmundy, Ill., was born Dec. 20, 1914, in Marion Co., Kinmundy, Ill., and departed this life at Bath, Mich., May 18, 1927, age 12 years, 4 months, 28 days. Leaving her home Wednesday morning in good health and happy with the anticipation of her school picnic which was to be held the following day, and of vacation days so near. She was called away to a better home when the explosion occurred, tearing away part of the school building and taking several little lives. She leaves to mourn their loss one brother and four sisters, Wm., Agnes, Alice, Edith and Lorene, all attending Bath school: one grandfather and two grandmothers of Kinmundy; Ill., also several uncles and aunts and a host of friends. He was one of the many who lost their lives during the destruction of the ill-fated Consolidated school building in Bath village Wednesday, May 18, 1927. Spring, I might say; the Tupe of boy-age, is stretching its foliage farther and farther and dropping longer and heavier shadows on the land. The cheerful smile of Arnold that brightened his home circle like a ray of sunshine come to a sudden ending in his tragic death. He was a member of the primary class of the Dewitt Methodist Sunday school. He was always ready and willing in a childish way to assume the responsibilities connected with his Sunday school class and we can but feel that in the passing of this little son and brother a pathway has opened where goodness will come streaming over our lives. A father, mother, a brother, Herbert and a little sister, Esther, a grandmother, one great uncle and many uncles, aunts and cousins and friends are left to mourn his early demise. The funeral was one of the two held at the Dewitt Methodist church at the same hour on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock May 20, 1927. Rev. W.C. Coleman officiated. A quartet composed of Mrs. Bert Moon, Mrs. Forward, Otto Pino and Mrs. Hazle sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", and "Asleep in Jesus". Four cousins, Lloyd and Floyd Neller, Otto Schlenker and Clarence Bauerle acted as pallbearers. The remains were laid to rest in the Dewitt cemetery. God needed one more angel, Amidst his shing band And so he bent with loving hands And clasped our darling's hand. _______ Card of Thanks We wish to extend our many thanks to Mrs. Crum, Mrs. W. Keyes, Mrs. Watson and to any more unknown to us who cared for our "Dear Arnold" during his last moments of suffering, to all our neighbors, friends and relatives who have expressed their sympathy, love and hospitality to us, to the state of Michigan for their kindness shown, to Rev. Coleman for his comforting words, to the singers for their songs of hope, to the Jarvis Estes Co. for their kind service rendered and to all those who sent flowers. May God bless you all. - Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bauerle and family. - Adv.
