It is said that the sound came from the southeast and some believed another blast had occurred at Bath. The origin of the sound is unknown. Daily newspapers carried reports of a wide-spread earthquake shock somewhere on the North American continent Saturday and possibly what was heard here was a far off rumble of the shock.
