PHOTO TYPE Tintype
FEATURES The photographer painted a gold ring on the ring finger of the girl's right hand. Because tintypes were usually mirror images of the actual scene, the ring may be on her left hand. The photographer also painted a gold brooch at the girl's neck and colored her cheeks pink. The gold ring and brooch may not have actually existed but have just been the photographer's decorations.

Because of the proximity of this photograph, the one on page 12d and the three other photographs on page 13; the similarity of the tintypes on pages 12d, 13a, and 13b; and that photograph 13c has been identified as Franklin Tatum Baird's son, Robert L. Baird; this photograph, the ones on pages 12d, 13a, and 13d may all be members of Franklin Tatum Baird's family. The girl in this photograph may be his second oldest daughter, Martha Franklin Baird, born 6 Apr 1863.
