PHOTO TYPE Cabinet Card
FEATURES The lady is wearing a metal brooch which looks like a bent arrow with a small ring attached in the center and a hoop attached at the arrowhead end.

This may be a photograph of Adelia Brodnax Baird's sister, Vanarah Brodnax. The lady in this photograph is the same person as in photograph "D" with the same hair style, dress, and brooch. The only difference in her dress between the two pictures is that she has some lace around her neck in photograph "D" while it is absent in this picture. The cabinet card mounts for the two pictures are different but they were taken by the same photographer, Friend at 221 21st St. in Birmingham. The two photographs may have even been taken at the same sitting and just mounted on different card stock.

Written in ink on the rear of photograph "D" is "Little auntie, Vanarah Brodnax" and the comment "Don't know if this is Vanarah or just to her" This comment has recently been scratched out with pencil and the name "Vanarah" also scratched out and the name Sallie penciled in. The photograph of an older lady on page 19, taken in Montgomery, Ala., also has the name "Sallie" penciled in on the rear with a question mark. Vanarah was 15 years younger than Sallie and lived in Pinson with Adelia while Sallie lived in Montgomery. Thus, it is reasonable to assume that this photograph and photograph "D" are of Vanarah Brodnax and the photograph on page 19 is of Sallie Brodnax.
