NOTE: J. Robert Israel has sent family group sheets that show an
Abednego Baker born June 17, 1746 in St. Pauls Parrish, Baltimore, Maryland.
He shows Dan Sears and Ted Sherrod as sources for this birth date and location.
A third source on the FGS (Barnes Baltimore County Families 1659-1759) lists
this Abednego's parents as Alexander Baker and Zipporah Hillard. J. Robert
shows all children as those of Abednego and Ruth. He also speculates that
"The Floyd Girl" was actually married to Abednego Jr.!
FROM J. ROBERT ISRAEL NOTES:
An Obed Baker was born on 17 June 1746 in St. Pauls Parrish, Maryland to
Alexander & Zipporah Hilliard Baker [Ref: Barnes: Balto Co Families 1659-1759.]
Alexander was a son of Maurice Baker.
[See Dan Sears ms] Abednego Baker lived in AA Co Md (Anne Arundel County)
during the Revolution & through the 1790 census. Then he moved to Montgomery
County & Frederick Co, MD where he was living in 1800 & 1810 census. Ruth Israel
Baker lived there until after 1817 when she signed a deed. She died before 1820
& Abednego @ age 45 remarried a 14 year old girl whom he outlived. He then moved
to Bond County Illinois and subsequently to Sangamon, Illinois. His son,
Abednego, Jr., remained in Maryland. The other children went west with their
father. Several were married in Sangamon and Mason Counties Illinois). The
family may have moved west via Tennessee as Vashti, Mary, and Elizabeth were
born there. Did they go back to Maryland in 1817?
I have two other sets of family records. One shows that Abednigo had no
children with his second wife (Unknown FLOYD). The most recent, provided
by Don and Bonnie Shepherd, show that only the first child was with his first
wife (Ruth ISRAEL). I have both versions on this web-site.
Family Group Sheet for FLOYD

Family History for Abednigo
From Mina Baker Adams
Abednego (called Old Bed) was married twice. No information on first wife.
Floyd Girl (14 year old part Indian) was second wife. He was 45 years old when
he married her. He took the "Oath of Fidelity" in Anne Arundel County, Maryland
in 1778. This Oath to fight against England.
Mina has provided me with pedigree charts. I am not certain what she is
indicating on her chart - it appears she is showing that Livingston Sylvester is
the son of Abednego and Ruth and the rest of the children are by the Floyd Girl.
On the other hand - it looks like she has grouped all the children together. She
does not show Abednego, Jr.
