OneWorldTree on Ancestry.com posting has two wives - Alice Hopkins and Margery
Morken/Morgen. Currently, I only have the Margery Morken/Morgen marriage
and children entered. Marriage dates and birth dates for the children are
identical with the exception that Alice's children includes Thomas Gilbert, dob
April 25, 1589. The second confirming posting I found was that of Helen
Schatvet Ullmann, which listed all children as those of Margery Morken/Morgen -
which is why I went with her as parent (at this time).The flaw comes with
Richards parents which is on this particular OneWorldTree posting. It
lists Giles Gilbert and Joan Pearce as his parents (as does one of the postings
for Thomas. HOWEVER, the posting for
Giles and Joan Pearce Gilbert gives dates of birth as 1530 and 1539, which would
make Giles 20 when Richard was born (reasonable) but Joan only 11 (unlikely ??
I'm not ruling it out yet . . . but . . . ). More important - their
marriage date is August 10, 1571. (Richard was born in 1550.) In
addition, the list of children does not include a Richard.
Therefore, in spite of having other informati0n that lists Giles and Joan as
Richard's parents - I have STOPPED here (with Richard and Marjory) until I can
do further research.
