• World War I draft registration card shows Calvin Bedwell, born 25 Mar 1877, a resident of Erin, Houston County, Tennessee. Nearest relative is Lessie Bedwell. He is a laborer who is described as tall with a slender build, with brown eyes and dark hair.

• The 1920 census for District 8, Houston County, Tennessee, taken 2 Jan 1920, shows Calvin Bedwell, 40, as a farmer who rents on Erin Road, as head of household with: wife Leslie, 29; son Jay D., 10; son Marlin, 8; son George, 6; and daughter Ethel, 3 & 1/12.

• 1930 Census for Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky, taken 8 Apr 1930, shows Calvin Bedwell, 52, a house carpenter who is renting a home for $5/mo, as head of household consisting of: Lessie, age 38, his wife of 22 years; son J.D., 19, a farm laborer; son Marlin, 15; son George, 13; son Gilbert, 9; son Aurther, 6; son Hurling, 2 & 11/12; and son Royce E., 8/12. All were born in Tennessee (curiously, Calvin lists his parents as having been born in Illinois).
