household consisting of: two males under 5 (probably Erasmus and Wiley); one
male between 30-40 (probably John); one female between 5-10 (probably Talitha);
and one female between 20-30 (probably Patsey). They do not own slaves.
1835 Grayson County, Virginia tax list shows John Bedwell with one tithe
and no horses.
1850 Census for District 19, Grayson County, Virginia, taken on 20 Aug
1840, shows John Bedwell, 50, a farmer who owns $400 in real estate, as head
of household containing: Patsy, 48; Talitha, 24; Wiley, 21; Eliza, 19; Levi,
15; Alfred, 13; William, 11; Charlotte, 9; Nancy, 7; Felix, 5; and Martha, 4/12.
1870 Census shows Martha Bedwell, 66, living with her son Levi and his
wife Clara.
1880 Census shows Martha Bedwell, 78, living with daughter Nancy and her
husband Wiley Pool. Census notes she is suffering from "inflammatory rheumatism".
John Bedwell and Martha Sarah (Patsy) Pool were married on 20 Dec 1820 in
Grayson County, Virginia.6,164 Martha Sarah (Patsy) Pool164 (daughter of William Pool and
Permelia Harrison) was born between 1802 and 1804 in Virginia.104 She died in 1880. She lived in Living
