Eighth Generation

907. Katherine Haseltine Basinger121,371 was born on 3 Jan 1845 in McMinn County, Tennessee. She died before Nov 1878 in McMinn County, Tennessee.123

(Note: Donna Null Basinger says Katherine Basinger was born on Jan 3, 1847. However, the 1850 census shows Katherine as five years old. Therefore, I'm guessing that she was born Jan 3, 1845.)

• 1870 Census for Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee, shows John Peters, 35, a printer with $250 assets, as head of household with: Catherine, 24; Alice, 4; Cordelia, 2; and Lou Beard, 14, "domestic servant" (probably a printers' apprentice).

• 1880 Census for Athens, McMinn County, Tennessee, shows John Peters, age 40-something (illegible due to water damage), a printer, as head of household containing: wife Lizzie, 32; daughter Allice, 15; daughter Belle, 13; and son Ben, born in July 1879. Apparently, Katherine Basinger Peters died sometime before 1878, and John Peters remarried and started a second family.

(Note: daughters Alice and Belle were counted twice in the 1880 census: once in their father's house as noted above, and once in grandmother Rosamond Brewer Basinger's household.)

Katherine Haseltine Basinger and John Pierce Peters were married on 19 Jan 1864 in McMinn County, Tennessee.373 John Pierce Peters was born on 31 Aug 1835 in McMinn County, Tennessee.121 He died on 5 Jan 1909 in McMinn County, Tennessee.121 Katherine Haseltine Basinger and John Pierce Peters had the following children:
