"McKINNON, Roscoe, 87, of Marion, Va., died Saturday, June 14, 2003, in
the Smyth County Community Hospital. Mr. McKinnon was born in Smyth County to
the late Lee Daniel and Lena Almetta Bedwell McKinnon and was preceded in death
by a brother, Click McKinnon; and a sister, Nellie Cormany. He was the last living
founding father of Russell's Chapel, where he served as deacon and Sunday school
teacher. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Helen Frances "Frankie"
McKinnon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Jill McKinnon, Marion, Ronnie
and Jeaneane McKinnon, Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Freeman,
Chilhowie; six grandchildren, Debbie Greer, Anita Roland, Keith and Kevin McKinnon,
Stephanie McKinnon, Colton McKinnon; three great-grandchildren, Travis Greer,
Kreig Roland, Tyler Roland; several nieces and nephews; his church family; and
a host of friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the
Russell's Chapel with Reverend Herman Cress and Reverend Lee Roy Jones officiating.
Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday
from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial
