James Bedwell "died in California and left a son named William". Also,
the birth year that was previously known for said William Bedwell is the same
as the one for this man, found in the 1880 California census:
• 1880 Census for Chico, Butte County, California shows William H. Bedwell,
age 37, a teamster born in Indiana who doesn't know where his parents were born,
as head of household including: wife Jane A., age 28; daughter Mary A., age 10;
daughter Elitha (?)E., age 8; son Charles C., age 5; son William G., age 3; and
daughter Lottie, age 1.
• 1900 Census for Chico, Butte County, California shows Wm. H. Bedwell,
born Nov 1842 in Indiana of parents born in Illinois and Indiana, a teamster,
as head of household with: Jane A., born Nov 1851, his wife of 31 years who has
had seven children with five still living; daughter Lottie M., born Apr 1879;
and daughter Edith A., born June 1884. William H. Bedwell and Jane A. [--?--]
were married about 1869.1438
