J. F. (Frank) De Vylder : son of
Dominick and Nellie (De Brouwer) De Vylder, was born Sept. 26, 1845, in Lokeren,
Belgium. In 1869 he emigrated to America, stopping first in Bardstown, Ky., a
year, then moved to Daviess County. He worked at different occupations until
1876, when he started a grocery in West Louisville, Daviess Co., Ky; remained
there till 1881, when he removed to Owensbororo, and opened a saloon and
restaurant. He is located on Frederica street, between River and Main. He was
married in 1874 to Harriet Rena Murphy, of Daviess County. They have four
children- Beatrice, Mary Alice, Maria Justina, and Paul Isadore. They are
members of the Catholic church.
