J. N. Frooninckx, farmer, Chebanse,
was born in Lubeck, Belgium, August 30, 1823. He
lived at the place of his nativity until thirty-three years of age, and attended
school until he w a fifteen years old, and has farmed during his life.
He came to America in 1856, coming direct to Iroquois
county, locating on what is known as the Belgian Farm, baying his present
homestead of 160 acres in 1860. He was married in the old country, March 25,
1856, to Miss Mary A. Lefevre. She died three years after coming to this
country. April 2, 1866, he was married to Miss Victoria Shanjelon: She was born
in Belgium, December 22, 1835. They have four children: Mary, Joseph, Emil and
Gustav. He has held the position of school director, taking great interest in
matters pertaining to education. He in a member of the catholic church.
