§ Jean Baptiste Lorge  from Canada.

The lorge familly, hatters from Brussels, emigrated to Canada about 1850. They settled in Montreal, Quebec province. The father, Corneille, and the mother Sophie Paquet, had, at least, three children: Jean Baptiste, born in April 1845 in Brussels, Marie and Rachel, born respectively about 1850 and 1856 in Montreal.

Jean Baptiste enlisted on June 5, 1862 in Boston, Massachusetts, in the fifth U.S. Cavalry, Co. D. stating being 18 years old, but was discharged on November 28 near Fredericksburg, being under age.

On April 24, 1865, he married in Montreal Anny (or Anna or Annette) Grenier. They had at least two children: Jacques Arthur in 1870 and Albertine in 1873, both born in Montreal.

Anny Grenier deceased on July 9, 1916, some months before Jean Baptiste who followed her on December 29, 1916.


§ Charles Olens  enlisted in the 55th Ohio Infantry, Co. D on October 22, 1861 for 3 years at Camp Mc Clellan, Norwalk, Ohio. He was transferred to the 5th U.S. Cavalry, Co. K, on November 25, 1862. He was mortally wounded at Beverly Ford, Virginia, at the begin of the battle of Brandy Station, first battle of the Gettysburg campaign. He died June 12, 1863 and was buried in the Alexandria National Cemetery, Virginia. (Section A, Site 817)
