Darrell B. Littlefield, 77

Darrell B. Littlefield, 77, Joslyn Road, Ellisburg, radio and television technician for many years, died Saturday, October 24 at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient three days.

The funeral was Monday at the Carpenter-Stoodly home, Belleville, with the REv. William Harkens, pastor of the Ellisburg United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in NOrth Boylston Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Ellisburg Fire Department First Responders.

Surviving ar his wife, Vera; two sons, Darrell B. Jr., Mannsville, and Bruce W., Adams; a daughter, Mrs. John (Phyllis) Davis, Mannsville; a foster daughter, Leona Savage MacDonald, Massena; two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Gordon and Ronald, and three sisters, Retha Matteson, Lois Matteson and Doris Clark, died previously.

He was born May 17, 1915, in Adams, a son of Byron and Minnie Parker Littlefield. he married Vera Curtiss April 2, 1934, at the Belleville Methodist parsonage with the Rev. W.P. Stafford officiating.

Mr. Littlefield was an automobile mechanic at several local garages after his marriage. He also worked at the New York Air Brake Corp., Watertown, until 1943, when he purchased a dairy farm on the Emerson Road, Belleville.

A handyman and accomplished radio and television technician, Mr. Littlefield reconstructed the old wooden gears on the Union Academy of Belleville Bell Tower in the early 1960's, and was instrumental in installing television, radio and central communication systems in several local school districts.

Mr. Littlefield was a technician at Sandy Creek Central School, in 1973, and later for the Oswego County Board of Cooperative Educational Services. He retired in 1980.

The couple had spent winters at Paradise Lakes, Deltona, Fla., since his retirement.

Mr. Littlefield was an active member of Belleville Grange 5 for 50 years, where he held ser val offices. he also enjoyed collecting antique Edison photographs and as well as old-time steam engines, several of which he used to harvest crops on his farm.

Mr. Littlefield was a very avid fisherman. So much so in fact, that they always returned from Florida the last week in March to be here for the first day of trout season.
