Finding an official document in genealogy is the same as finding the proverbial pot o' gold. Here are some documents we've come across in our Valentine quest.
"John Mawney of Cranston, Rhode Island quitclaims to Henry Valentine of Hopkinton, MA his interest in Lots 30, 869, 286, 632, 295, lots he drew as shares in the Ohio Company's land. Deed made 11 November 1815. Recorded in Washington County, Ohio 22 May, 1818."  Source: Washington County Ohio Deed Book #5.
"Henry Valentine of Shrewsbury in Worcester County, MA quitclaims to Joseph Valentine of Hopkinton in Middlesex County, MA the title to the above mentioned lots dran by John Mawney. His wife Mary consents. Made 15 May, 1820. Lawson Valentine a witness. Recorded in Washington County, Ohio January 1821". Source: Washington County Ohio Deed Book #7.
"Stephen Valentine of Henderson County for $250 to Edmund Genning, one brown horse, one bay horse, and a two-horse wagon. This is conditioned however that whereas the said part of the second part now gives this day his several promissory notes to the creditors of the said party of the first part as follows: one note to Joseph Peltore (? spelling), two note to J & B Warren, also a note of Seventy five dollars payable to Jonathan Valentine now in possession of the said party of the second part, now if the said party of the first part his heirs, etc. shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid the above sum of $250 or leave harmless the said party of the second part acc. to terms above stated and if the said property and effects shall not in the meantime be endangered by attachment levy or any aid of the said party of the first part then this mortgage to be void but if default be made by said party of the first part or if p property or goods be levide on for the debt of the said party of the first part as to endanger the security hereby created then the same shall remain in full  force and effects and the property may be sold by the party of the second part, and this morgage thereby forclosed. Acknowledged 18 Feb. 1858." Source: Henderson County Illinois Deed Book #15.
Listed in the Warren County Illinois Bounty Register compiled by The Warren County Illinois Genealogical Society in 1985: William Valentine with the following information: NE 1/4  8  160.00, June 1, 1818  and Samuel L. Valentine with the following information: SW 1/4 160.00 on March 12, 1818.
