William Buttram

WILLIAM BUTTRAM was born on May 16, 1706, in Baltimore County, Maryland. His parents were John Buttram (1685 - 1727) and Elizabeth Westbury (d. 05/07/1714). About one month after the death of his mother, William, aged 8, bound himself to Daniel and Elizabeth Scott. This was done with the consent of his father. This is recorded in the court records of Baltimore County. William lived with the Scott family until about 1742-1743. When new lands opened in Virginia, it is believed he moved there with his family. In 1739 William entered for 400 acres on the Bannister River. There is a record of William Buttram entering additional land in Brunswick County, south of the Bannister River, as late as 1747.
