William Butram

WILLIAM BUTRAM was born on June 17, 1783, in Rowan County, North Carolina, to William Butram and Sarah Patterson. He died on October 28, 1865. He moved to Lee County, Virginia, with his father about 1804. William Butram and Nancy Stinson were married on February 19, 1807. Nancy Stinson was born on April 8, 1789, to George Stinson and Mary "Polly" (last name unknown). She died on September 22, 1855. William and his wife arrived in Wayne County, Kentucky, in 1809, settling in the Mt. Pisgah area. One of William's aunts and several of his uncles had moved to Wayne County in 1809. William and Nancy, along with several of their children, were founding members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. At one time he was pastor there. He and wife, Nancy, are buried in the cemetery there.
