This is a picture of William Daniel Ross's tombstone at the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA. The grave was found by Mable Shortt and her husband Russell and they had the tombstone placed on the grave. William Daniel is the brother of our great,great,great grandfather.
We can only speculate why the tompstone has Company H on it. We found a roster of Co. H, 61st. Regiment, Tattnall County, GA Tattnall County Volunteers and William Daniel was listed. It could be that his company left him behind when he became ill and had to stay in Richmond, VA. At this point, we may never know.
