*Company A, 7th Battalion Georgia Infantry was mustered into Confederate
service at the Junction on Augusta and Savannah R. R. August 1861. Went to
Savannah, Ga. and from Savannah to Brunswick, Ga. then to Jekyll Island,
then was ordered to Camp Bethesda below Savannah, from there to Virginia and
became Co. A, 61st Regiment Georgia Infantry.

This regiment was successively designated the 26th Regiment (Lamar's),
Georgia Infantry, 7th Battalion Georgia Infantry and 61st Regiment Georgia
Infantry. A number of names added to this roll by members of company do not
appear on original rolls, and no service record has been found for them.
