Alfred married Charity Elizabeth Boomhower (daughter of David E. Boomhower and Rose Anna Kellar) on 17 December 1901 in Bancroft, Faraday Township, Peterborough County, Ontario. Charity was born 16 August 1883 in Kennebec Township, Frontenac County, Ontario and died in 1968.

Location: TYNE COT CEMETERY is located 9 Km north east of Ieper town centre on the Tynecotstraat, a road leading from the Zonnebeekseweg (N332). Two roads connect Ieper town centre onto the Zonnebeekseweg; the Torhoutstraat leads from the market square onto a small roundabout. At the roundabout the first right turn is Basculestraat. At the end of Basculestraat, there is a cross roads and Zonnebeekseweg is the turning to the left.
8 Km along the Zonnebeekseweg after passing the village of Zonnebeke, lies the left hand turning onto Passendalestraat. 1 Km along the Passendalestraat lies the left hand turning onto Tynecotstraat. The cemetery itself lies 700 meters along the Tynecotstraat on the right hand side of the road.
