Notes for WALTER BERNARD NEAL:
Walter joined the army in 1914, at the age of 16, and became a Driver in The Royal Field Artillery, this meant that he sat on the lead horse controlling the team pulling the gun carriage, he was injured but would not talk about it to anyone. He was awarded the British Star Medal for service in France in 1915, and discharged 22nd September 1916. He spent many long spells in Orthopedic Hospitals around the country, over a period of many years with problems in his legs. He helped his local community, served on Meriden Rural District Council. Holding the office of Chairman for several years. He had a modern pig unit on the farm, breeding Large White's.

On 27 September 1934 moved into Gattox Farm, Morton Bagot. by 1939 the family were living at Ivy House Farm, Balsall Common, Benny was draught'ed into the army. He was passionate about horse's and fox hunting. Ben passed away 7PM 26th October 1953, funeral 2.30 PM 30th October 1953 at Berkswell.
