NOTES:

Timothy Holcomb as ¨Jr¨ was granted by the Commonwealth of Virginia the following lands in Bath County: 149 acres on Beaver Creek in May of 1800, 100 acres on Back creek on Jan. 1,1805, 300 acres on Stamping Creek of Greenbriar River on Dec. 14,1807, and 32 acres on Back Creek on May 12,1815. He took deeds for land in Bath County, Virginia: July 10,1800 from Joseph Brown and others for 75 acres on Stamping Creek, Oct. 4,1806 from William Auldridge for 114 acres on Stamping Creek, May 13,1811 from John Brindley for 325 acres on Beaver Creek, a branch of Greenbriar River, May 1820 from Robert Gwin and wife for 86 acres in Back Creek Valley. As ¨Jr¨ was made trustee in deed Nov. 1,1834, signed by Timothy Holcomb and wife Mary, for 17½ and 86 acre tracts on Back Creek to secure debt. Had a grant in 1830 for 261 acres on Beaver Lick Creek, Pocahontas County, Virginia [now West Virginia]. As ¨Timothy Holcomb, Jr.¨ signed 4 deeds on Nov. 14,1817, 2 being to Roger Gum for 100 acres on Beaver Lick Creek and 2 deeds to Ethan Holcomb, each for 100 acres, one on South Fork of Beaver Creek and the other on South Fork of Beaver Lick Creek, adjoining Roger Gum. On Oct. 15,1818 joined wife, Mary, and others in a deed to John Chestnut for 227 acres on Valley Branch of Back Creek.May 12,1821 to Samuel Hogshet for 100 acres, to secure John McNuel for $124. Timothy Holcomb of Greenbriar County, Virginia took deed Oct. 7,1826 from William Rucker, heir of Travener Rucker, for 100 acres on North Fork of Anthony's Creek in Greenbriar County. As Timothy Holcomb, Jr. joined wife, Hanna, June 18,1838 in signing deed for land on Back Creek. June 15,1843 was made trustee in a deed signed by Hezekiah Holcomb for 100 acres on Back Creek ¨for the benefit of J. B. Campbell¨. Signed deed of trust Oct. 23,1843 to Stephen Pooler on several tracts of land in Little Valley, including personaly to secure J. B. Campbell. Joined wife, Polly, June 8,1843 in a deed to Joseph holcomb for 68 acres adjoining Hezekiah Holcomb.

[Some of the above deeds may be of his father Timothy Holcomb I or of Timothy Holcomb III]

Timothy Holcombe signing as ¨Sr¨ May 4,1841 deed to William Nichols of Greenbriar County, Virginia for 100 acres adjoining Henry Hoover on North Fork of Anthony's Creek in Greenbriar County, witnessed by William Gibson, Joseph Courtney and John Haines seems more probably to be Timothy Holcomb II instead of his father Timothy Holcomb I, who had passed 84 years of age by June 1,1840.

Timothy Holcomb had made entries upon which surveys were made in 1822 and grants thereon were issued in 1824 to him by the Commonwealth of Virginia for 100 and 196 acre tracts on Beaver Creek in Pocahontas County, Virginia. Was joined by wife, Hanna, both of Kanawha County, Virginia Dec. 18,1842 conveying to Margaret Gunner of Kanawha County 90 acres on Big Hurricane Creek in Kanawha County.

Timothy is recorded with family in 1850 census of Nicholas County, Virginia [now West Virginia] as farmer, 69 years old born in Conn.

In later years Maggie and all the kids lived in the house, on the farm near Marshal Oklahoma, and Calvin lived in a dugout on the side of the hill. My mother spent a lot of time following Calvin around.

Calvin nicknamed my mother "Bonnie Parker". Probably because she was a little wild. He told her how, as a young boy growing up on the ranch in the Cherokee Outlet, the James Gang, the Youngers and other outlaws would come to the ranch. They would give him a dollar to water their horses and such.

Maggie moved to California with some of the children in the late 1930's for a few years. Irene Opal tried to make it in the movies and actualy had a few small parts before her death from Tuberculosis. John Quinton attended UCLA.
