William (Jnr) was the illigitimate son of William Bland of Folkingham was born in 1785. He inherited the tools of the trade from his father whose Will confirms the illegitimacy and that he was "otherwise Maltby". William appears to have worked in the family business before his step mother sold it to Ishmael Hammer in 1835. Census and Trade Directories indicate that he traded under his own account between 1835 and 1863. The census of 1871 records him to be a "Retired Blacksmith". He died in 1873. His son William Bland also entered the trade. Contact John by
BLAND William (Snr) Blacksmith 1758: William Bland (Snr), blacksmith. Born 1758, in Folkingham, Lincolnshire, England. Son of John Bland mentioned above and Jane. The business appears to have continued to be carried on in the name of William\'s Widow Mary. The Rectory Gates at Folkingham are listed as a good example of the work of the village Blacksmith. These were erected in the Georgian period and despite some suggestion that they were made by another Blacksmith Ismael Hammer, evidence has come to light that Mary Bland sold the Ironmongery and Smith\'s business to Ishmael Hammer in 1835. This provides strong evidence that the Gates were more likely made by John & William Bland. Contact John by
