BOSS Thomas Blacksmith 1823: Thomas Boss, blacksmith. Born about 1823 in On Estuary Luffenham-Rutland, England. The 1851 UK census lists Thomas as 28yrs, living in Kings Lynn, Norfolk with wife Ann 30yrs (born Peterboro, Northamptonshire). Children: Ann 4yrs, Edward 1yr infant. Lodger: William Reed 22yrs. Lodger: John Strickland 22yrs. Listed in Blacksmiths of Norfolk and Rutland.
BROWN George Blacksmith 1824: George Brown, blacksmith. I first found information on George in a Church Baptism Records. His son Samuel was Baptised 1824 and daughter Caroline was Baptized 1826. The church records for these baptisms show their father was George Brown and his profession blacksmith. Contact Graham by
MASON Ferdinando Blacksmith 1643: Fernando Mason, blacksmith. Born about 1643, at Exton, Rutland, England. He settled in Gretton, Northamptonshire, circa 1678. He and his wife Elizabeth had seven children baptized at Gretton between 1676 and 1683: In 1688 and 1690 two of his children, for whom I have not found baptisms, were buried at Gretton. Ferdinando was buried at Gretton in 1708 and Elizabeth also was buried there in 1711. The Gretton Register does not give Ferdinando's occupation but in 1685 he made a witness statement, where he was described as Ferdinando Mason, Blacksmith, of Gretton, Northants, for 17 yrs, aged 42yrs and originally from Exton, Rutland. TEMPLER Charles Blacksmith 1829: Charles Templer, born 1829 at Gretton, Northamptonshire. Father: Jacob Templer(a Blacksmith). 1853: he married Hannah Tee and they had five children. Charles and Hannah stayed in Gretton until 1855. From 1856 to 1858 they were in Caldecot, Rutland and by 1860 they had moved to Great Easton, Leicestershire, where they spent the rest of their lives.
