Charles GREGORY Settlement Examination: 1804


The Examination of Charles GREGORY of Melbourne in the said County of Derby, Labourer, taken upon oath before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said County this Tenth Day of August 1804.

Who saith that he is about 27 years old that he was born at Stanton by Bridge in the said County of Parents legally settled there as he has been informed and believes

Says that when he was about 15 years old he was hired for a year to serve Mr William SAUL of Stanton aforesaid, farmer, which year he hath served in Stanton, since which hiring and Service for a year at Stanton he has been in various services, but never was hired for a longer term than 50 weeks in any of them

Says that about 6 months ago he intermarried with Sarah now his wife, and now lives as an inmate with his Father-in-Law (John BATES) at Melbourne aforesaid - and further saith nil
