Will of Samuel SHEAVYN, Ticknall, Derbyshire: 1820

Probate granted 15 April 1823, Derby

This is the last Will and Testament of me Samuel SHEAVYN of Ticknall in the County of Derby, Farmer, being of sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding. I do order & direct that all my just Debts, Funeral Expenses and Charges of proving this my Last Will and Testament will be fully paid and satisfied by my Executor hereinafter named ~

And I do hereby Give and Bequeath unto my wife Sarah SHEAVYN the use of all my Household Goods linnen (sic) and Furniture and also the Use Interest and Income of all other Personal Estate for and during her Natural Life ~

I do hereby Give and Bequeath to my son William SHEAVYN the sum of Fifty Pounds ~ I do also Give and Bequeath to my Grandaughter Sarah SHEAVYN the daughter of the said William SHEAVYN the sum of Ten Pounds ~ I also Give and Bequeath to my two Grandchildren the Children of my Daughter Rebecca DUNNICLIFF of Melbourn the sum of Twenty Pounds each and in case one of them dies the other to have both shares ~ I also Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Ann BOSTOCK of Ashby de la Zouch the sum of Ten Pounds ~ I also Give and Bequeath to my Son Robert SHEAVYN the sum of One Hundred Pounds ~ I also Give and Bequeath to my Son Richard SHEAVYN the sum of Five Pounds ~ And I also Give and Bequeath unto Samuel & William the sons of Richard SHEAVYN aforesaid the sum of Five Pounds each ~

And it is my Will and Mind and I do Order and Direct that the several and respective legacies hereinbefore given and bequeathed by me to my Sons & Daughters hereinbefore named shall be paid to them respectively within the space of six calendar months next after the decease of my said Wife ~ And as for and concerning all the Rest Residue & Remainder of my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature and kind soever I do hereby Give and Bequeath to my Sons Richard SHEAVYN, William SHEAVYN & Robert SHEAVYN to my Daughters Hannah REEVES of Himley, Ann BOSTOCK of Ashby de la Zouch and to the surviving children of my deceased Daughter Rebecca DUNNICLIFF of Melbourne to be equally divided between & amongst them share and share alike within the space of six calendar months next after the decease of my said Wife ~

And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute & appoint my Sons Richard SHEAVYN & William SHEAVYN aforesaid and William WOODWARD of Southwood in the County of Derby, Farmer Executors of this my Will and Testament and I do Publish and Declare the same to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness I the said Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twentyfifth day of February in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty

Signed Sealed Published & Declared by the said Testator Samuel SHEAVYN as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who in his presence at his request,and in the Presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witness attesting the execution hereof

Whereas I have this Twentyfifth day of February in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty executed my last Will and Testament I do hereby make this Codicil thereunto and Give and Bequeath to my Grandaughter Mary BOSTOCK of Ashby de la Zouch sum of Five Pounds to be paid by my Executor within six months next after the decease of my said Wife ~ dated this Twentyfifth day of February One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty

Whereas I have in my Will dated 25th day of February in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty Bequeathed to my Son Robert SHEAVYN the sum of One Hundred Pounds ~ I hereby annul the said Legacy and in lieu thereof I Give and Bequeath to him the sum of Sixty Pounds ~ In all other respects I do hereby Ratify and Confirm the above Will Dated this Twentythird day of October One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty One

At Derby 15 April 1823: Let a Probate be made to Richard SHEAVYN & William SHEAVYN two of the Executors Reserving for William WOODWARD of the Parish of repton, Farmer the other Executor They being duly sworn and all that the Personal Estate will not amount to 600£ before me ~ Thos BUCKRIDGE, Surr

Appeared personally Richard SHEAVYN of Ticknall in the County of Derby, Farmer & William SHEAVYN of Twyford in the County of Derby, Farmer two of the Executors named in the Last Will & Testament of the said Samuel SHEAVYN late of Ticknall in the County of Derby, Farmer
