NORTON FAMILY

NORTON Family Brick Walls

Can you help knock them down?

Explanation:

Stapenhill Parish Registers have not been filmed by the LDS. IGI extractions are from Stapenhill Bishops' Transcripts, which have been filmed, but which have major gaps. Missing years are July 1708 - June 1711; August 1747 - August 1762; Sep 1770 - 1800. Because of these gaps, it is difficult to link back to earlier generations.

Furthermore, Joseph NORTON & his wife Mary, née CAPEWELL became General Baptists and helped establish the religion in their village of Cauldwell. Apart from marriages (by law, in the Church of England prior to 1 July 1837), few records survive for the following two or three generations as Cauldwell General Baptist records transferred to Burton on Trent General Baptist Church. The records were lost when the Burton church burned down in the 1960s.

If you can help answer the queries below, I would love to hear from you!

First marriage needed, children from either marriage, and death & burial. (One known son: Henry James, born c1825).
