Wayne & Carolyn Allen
Wayne and Carolyn Allen live in Kingston, Jamaica. Wayne is a great
great grandson of Elizabeth Rosalie Blondel who was Richard Anthony Loche
Blondel's daughter. Richard Anthony Blondel was the grandson of Antoine
Blondel who owned a plantation at Caracol, Saint Domingue and perhaps another
one near the city of Jeremie.
They worked in Indonesia as missionaries from Jan 1978 - December 1990.
Their two oldest children grew up there and their youngest was born there.
The family have
been in Jamaica since June 1996. Although Wayne was born in Tennessee
they consider Fortt Wayne, Indiana to be their home. Their
oldest children live there today. Their youngest attends high school in
Jamaica.
Wayne was born in 1951 & Carolyn was born in 1952.
Wayne lectures at the Caribbean Graduate School of Theology in Kingston.
Below is a brief record of some of their family history and the connection to the French American Blondel family that emigrated from the Caribbean 200 years ago. How ironic it is that a descendant of the same Antoine Blondel who frantically searched for his wife and children in Jamaica so many years ago would return to Jamaica to live, work and raise his family.
Anson and Rosali were married in WV on Feb 4, 1868.
Family Bible records
indicate that the four children were born in WV. Three children died
very young. Only one lived to adulthood, Maud Lillian (Lillian Maud)
who married John Willard Leek in KS on Dec 31, 1891. John's father and
siblings were born in Newark, NJ. We don't know where John's father married
Martha Ann Campbell but all their children were born in Iola, KS.
So, John and Maud met, then married Dec 31, 1891
in KS. Three children were born there before moving by wagon train to OK
in 1897. Two children, Inez (1900) and Ben(1902) were born in OK before
moving , by train, to ID in about 1903. Eurie says she was six but she
was eight when Ben was born. She relates that Ben died in Idaho and they
stayed only about a year. By about 1904 they were on there way to Oregon
where they stayed about 8 years. They would have been in TN by about 1912.
Inez met John Parker, they married and stayed there to raise their family.
Inez was the mother Eurie was referring to in the letter mentioned below
and written in 1971. The time frame that the sale of the French property
alluded to below would be about 1913.
