According to family notes my GG Grandmother, Margaret Elizabeth Daughenbaugh was born 05 Nov 1847 in Scrubgrass, PA. I have yet to determine which Scrubgrass Township this would have been but the most likely possibilities are Venango and Armstrong Counties in Pennsylvania. Again according to notes made by my Great Grandmother & Grandmother, Margaret E. Daughenbaugh's parents were John Daughenbaugh & Rebecca Jane Pierce. I do not know of any Daughenbaugh siblings that Margaret E. had.

I have found Rebecca Jane Pierce (Daughenbaugh) Kitchen in the 1870 census for Venango County, PA in Shemburg, Oil Creek Township. In her household is her daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Daughenbaugh, Margaret's first child, Frank Fowler, Rebecca's sister, Sarah Gardner and Rebecca Kitchen's daughter, Rachel Kitchen, age 8.

I have not been able to find Rebecca Jane Pierce or her daughter Margaret E. Daughenbaugh in either the 1850 or 1860 census.

In the 1880 census, Margaret Elizabeth Daughenbaugh is enumerated in Cornplanter Twp, Venango Co., Pa with her husband, Bernard Tenbus. Her son, Frank Fowler, is listed as Frank Tenbus and their first child together, Mary Rosina Tenbus is listed as two years old. Mary Rosina Tenbus was my Great Grandmother.

Bernard & Margaret Elizabeth had two more daughters after 1880. Clara Louise "Callie" Tenbus was born 19 Feb 1885. She married Harry Brooks Greer, Sr. Their third daughter, Nettie apparently died as an infant or toddler. She is supposed to be buried in Emlenton Cemetery.

Mary Rosina Tenbus married William Abraham Cann on 14 Aug 1898 in Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York. They lived in Venango County, PA for most of their married life and raised three children there.

Margaret Elizabeth Daughenbaugh's son, Frank Fowler married Annie ? and they had eight children together. Frank Fowler was living in Lima, Ohio when his mother died in 1915.

Obviously, the Daughenbaugh's are one of my brick walls and I would love to hear from anyone who might have information on Margaret Elizabeth Daughenbaugh's parents - John Daughenbaugh & Rebecca Jane Pierce.

John Daughenbaugh was supposed to be from Indiana County, PA and Rebecca was said to have been born in Tarentum, Allegheny Co., PA around 1821.
