The "Clyde" arrived in Sydney on 15 February 1833. George, Hannah and Sarah Ann Wood initially settled at Terry's Meadows (Albion Park) on the South Coast of New South Wales. Jane Ellen Wood was born at Terry's Meadows on 6 July 1834.

In 1836 they moved to the private village of Jamberoo. George Wood settled on Moses Brennan's holding, near John Ritchie's farm, where he farmed successfully for a few years, and then combined dairying with agriculture.

On 6 May 1836 George Wood junior was born. Elizabeth Wood was born in 1839, but unfortunately she died in 1842 aged 3 years old. By this time the Tate's had also taken up land in Jamberoo. Old survey maps show the Wood's and Tate's owning land adjacent to each other. One area where the Tate's and Wood's farmed was shown on old survey maps as Tate's Ridge. The Tate and the Wood families joined destinies with the marriages of John Kell Tate to Sarah Ann Wood and Edward Kell Tate's marriage to Jane Ellen Wood.

One of the Tate's daughters, Elizabeth Tate, married James Augustine Donnelly. James Augustine & Elizabeth (nee Tate) Donnelly's daughter, Elizabeth (1836-1876) married George and Hannah Wood's only son George Wood junior.

So the links between the Tate & Wood families were complete.

George & Hannah Wood's two daughters had married George & Elizabeth Tate's two sons, while George & Hannah Wood's son married George & Elizabeth Tate's grandaughter.
